Hello, my name is Ève, and I want to become a clinical sexologist. In this blog, I will introduce some terms that are unfamiliar to people. A lot of people don't know about this job, because it's a subject that a lot of people aren't comfortable talking about, so they're very uninformed. However, I think that sexology is starting to be more meaningful in schools, in families and among friends. It is important for me to inform people about sexology, because this subject is part of everyone's life. In this glossary, you will find several terms, which in my opinion must be known.
Asexual

Experiencing no sexual feelings or desires; not feeling sexual attraction to anyone
Example: Not only does the male author distance himself by constructing a female character, but also the name itself, Morvern Callar, is ASEXUAL and genderless.

Eroticism
noun
Eroticism designates all the phenomena that arouse sexual desire, and the various representations, in particular cultural and artistic, that express or arouse this affection of the senses.
Example: Pornography was growing steadily from a hole in the corner specialist to a multi-million pound industry illustrating the move to EROTICISM and away from procreation (Sutherland, 1982, p4).

hypersexualization

HYPERSEXUALIZATION, or the sexualization of public space, involves the attribution by the media of a sexual character to a product or behaviour that has nothing intrinsically sexual about it. Hypersexualization can be seen in magazines, videos, films, the fashion industry and particularly in advertising
Example: Of course, this is actually the least of the problems created by they hypersexualization of our kids... but as it's the work that I do, to me it seems a very clear example.

LGBTQ+ community

Psycho sexual development is a multidimensional concept that covers the anatomical and physiological dimensions of sexual functioning (or its genesis) and psychological aspects such as knowledge, understanding, beliefs, attitudes and values related to sexuality.
Example: If she is more closely involved when they reach a certain age than when they were babies then this could also be explained by her own PSYCHO SEXUAL DEVELOPMENT.

Sex addiction

Sex addiction is defined as a lack of control over sexual thoughts, urges, and impulses. While sexual impulses are natural, sex addiction only refers to behaviors that are done in excess and significantly impact one’s life in a negative way.
Example: While not many references deal exclusively with music therapy helping sex addicts, information on helping people with other addictions through music therapy is also applicable for people with SEXUAL ADDICTIONS.

Sexual assault

Example: Victims of SEXUAL ASSAULT are greatly disadvantaged in the court; their cases are dealt with in a way that demands greater evidence requirements.

Sexual desire

Sexual harassment

Sexual identity

Example: When I look at gender I am looking at the SEXUAL IDENTITY of a person in terms of the life they lead and what makes them female.

Sexual orientation

Sexual orientation is an enduring pattern of romantic or sexual attraction (or a combination of these) to people of the opposite sex or gender, the same sex or gender, or to both sexes or more than one gender.

Sexually transmitted infections

Transgender
adjective
Denoting or relating to a person whose gender identity does not correspond with the sex registered for them at birth.
Example: Thus queer politics not only includes gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transsexuals, TRANSGENDER, eunuchs etc but all other groups excluded from the mainstream normative order including blacks, women, disabled people etc.
